Fat Bottomed Girls Cupcake Shoppe

Fat Bottomed Girls Cupcake Shoppe
This week, Wrigley and I tagged along with Steve to go to Hot Springs for a business trip.  On our way into town, we drove through historic downtown and I spotted this adorable cupcake shoppe.  I think I started squealing when I saw it.  It was a small little shop with some beautiful cupcakes.

Lemon Lavender Cupcake
My favorite was the Lemon Lavender one with lemon cake and a lavender icing garnished with a small piece of lemon.  The cake was very moist and spongy and the icing was rich and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness.  This has been a very trendy cupcake flavor for a few years now (skinny girls follow fashion trends....chubby chicks follow food trends....don't get me started on sun dried tomatoes and truffle oil), but I have been scared to try it.  Who wants herbs in their cupcakes?  I learned that I do.  We also got: salted caramel (I'm eating this one as I write this), chocolate on chocolate, red velvet and creme brulee.

It's weird, because I don't know who these girls are.  I had never heard of their shop and I knew nothing about them or if their cupcakes were any good.  Yet, somehow I felt we were connected.  A sense of camaraderie just in seeing the name and that they make cupcakes.  I wanted to go in and greet them with a hug as though we were reunited at a family reunion.  I did not, but I did make Steve take my picture.  Warning: grab your sunglasses and shield young children from the screen before you look at my winter white legs.  These are also my summer white legs because I avoid the sun.  I saw a picture one time of two eighty year old women.  One avoided the sun and one bathed in it.  The sun bather looked like the Crypt Keeper and the other woman looked like she was in her 50's.  So, I refer to myself as "Pasty and Proud!"

Anyway.....it was a very fun trip and I look forward to going back to see my "sisters" at Fat Bottomed Girls and visit some new places like the Savory Pantry that I didn't have time to see this week.
